The problem
Small agencies that sell web work run into the same walls:
- The owner still builds the sites, so new work gets turned away.
- Outside help has gone quiet before, or sent back work that had to be redone.
- The cost of the next month of web work is hard to predict.
The answer
To outsource web development, you decide three things before anyone touches your site: which work goes out, how you'll pay for it, and who owns the finished work and the logins. Outside web help is usually priced one of three ways: a fixed price per project, by the hour, or a dedicated team. Agencies with steady web work have a fourth choice, a team on a flat monthly rate. Once those are settled, you hand off one small task and build from there.
The short version of the steps:
- List the web work you want off your plate.
- Pick how you'll pay.
- Get ownership in writing, and keep the hosting and logins in your name.
- Check whether your helper counts as a contractor or an employee.
- Hand off one small first task.
The step-by-step guide covers all nine steps in full, with the federal and Florida rules.
Florida vs US: the cost of one web hire
There's no official Florida wage for web developers. So this table uses computer programmers, the closest match.
| One year, one hire | Florida: computer programmer | US: computer programmer |
|---|---|---|
| Median wage (BLS, 2025 data) | $93,180.00 | $100,390.00 |
| Employer Social Security, 6.2% | $5,777.16 | $6,224.18 |
| Employer Medicare, 1.45% | $1,351.11 | $1,455.66 |
| Federal unemployment tax, 0.6% of the first $7,000 | $42.00 | $42.00 |
| State unemployment tax | $189.00 (2.7% of the same wage base) | Not counted (each state sets its own) |
| Total a year, before benefits | $100,539.27 | $108,111.84 plus state tax |
Counted: wages and employer taxes. Left out: benefits, paid time off, equipment, software, hiring costs, and workers' comp.
Result: a first web hire costs less in Florida than at the US median. It's still a six-figure cost before benefits.
The full cost page shows every step of the math. It also has benefits, city wages, and each source with the date it was checked. This site isn't tied to the State of Florida or any other government agency.
What you get
- A full team in one office. Developers, technical virtual assistants, designers, and a team leader work side by side in one office in Indonesia, with new computers, three internet providers, and two backup power sources.
- One point of contact. A North American account manager assigns each task, manages it, and checks the work before you see it. The same people work on your tasks every month and learn your brand. Unlimited revisions are included on every plan.
- Your time back. Zach Schuenke at Convert on Command handed his production work to a DeskTeam360 team and got 16 hours a week back. His agency went from 2 clients a week to 4 on average and added $160k a month in revenue.
Client story: Smash Wave Marketing
Smash Wave Marketing is a digital agency in Jupiter, Florida. It serves businesses across the US. The owners opened it in July 2022 and joined DeskTeam360 around August 2022. One co-owner knew DeskTeam360 from a past job as an account manager at an agency that used it. Now DeskTeam360's team builds Smash Wave's client sites in WordPress and Elementor. It runs their clients' hosting, does monthly and quarterly upkeep, and fixes what breaks. It has even refreshed client sites with more than 100 pages. The co-owner's biggest win: Smash Wave can now sell a $10,000 website.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to outsource web development?
It depends on how you pay. DeskTeam360 publishes three flat monthly prices: $1,497, $2,994, or $4,491 a month, for 1, 2, or 3 tasks at a time.
Who owns the website when you outsource it?
Not always you. Work you order from an outside person or company only counts as "work made for hire" if it fits one of nine listed types and both sides sign a written agreement saying so. Otherwise the author is normally the person who made it, and moving the copyright to you takes a signed writing from the owner. The guide explains it. This is a plain reading of the rules, not legal advice.
How does outsourcing web work usually start?
With one small task that has a clear finish line, like a homepage update. A first task shows how a team asks questions, how the work comes back, and how changes go. The guide's last step has a real example.
What Florida rules apply when you pay a web contractor?
A Florida business reports any person it pays $600 or more in a year for work, who isn't an employee, within 20 days of the first payment or the contract date. Florida uses 10 common-law factors to tell a contractor from an employee, and control over the work matters most. Calling an employee a contractor on purpose is a felony. The federal 1099-NEC line is a separate rule: $2,000 for payments made in 2026.
Is it unethical if I outsource the work and not tell my clients?
Many of DeskTeam360's agency clients deliver the work under their own brand. DeskTeam360 works under the agency's brand, so the agency's clients never see DeskTeam360's name. The Tobie Group, an Arizona agency, now sells website upkeep to its clients as a new monthly income line.
Your choices, compared
Each way of getting web work done fits a different agency.
| One hire | Hourly help or an agency | A flat monthly team | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you pay | Wages and employer taxes (table above), plus benefits: about $33,446 a year on a national average | The rate the person or shop sets | A flat monthly price (see the price question above) |
| Who does the work | One person, full time, on your payroll | One person or an outside shop, for the hours or jobs you buy | The full team and all 8 services, working on a set number of your tasks at a time |
| What to watch | You're the employer: Florida reemployment tax once you pay $1,500 in wages in a quarter, and a new hire report within 20 days | Estimates can miss. First Call Digital Agency saw delivery times jump around with a past provider. The plus: skills you haven't built in-house | It isn't the same as one full-time person, so compare the work each option covers |
